If there are two happy families in the Gypsy suburb, one of them is Vasko’s family.

Vasko is a ten year old boy, who 2 months ago, together with his two elder brothers, took the most important decision in his life – to be baptized in water and confess his faith in the Lord.

Vasko and his brothers Angel (12) and Raicho (14) have grown up with the soup from the children’s soup kitchen at the Gypsy church in Filipovtzi. Their mother Raina accepted Christ 6 years ago, when her children started going to the soup kitchen.

It’s early in the morning. There are 50 boys and girls standing at the river bank. They are between 10 and 15 years old and are patiently waiting to be baptized in water, the same way as “Jesus was baptized in the Jordan river”.

They want to enter into covenant with the Lord. To dedicate their lives to God. To live for Him and with Him. They grow quiet, speechless, with hearts filled with reverence - something uncommon for their age and ethnos. This is the new generation of the Gypsy church in Filipovtzi.

At the beginning of this year a couple of new boys and girls started coming to the services in this Gypsy neighborhood. Shortly after that ten more youths joined the group. Later another ten …and another ten… In the last two months more than eighty young people accepted Christ and full of faith joined the church.

A real revival started!

April Newsletter

28 april, 2009

We came back to Bulgaria 3 weeks ago. All 3 of us had flu (one at a time), 3 times problems with our 14 year old vehicle and this morning our 3rd grand daughter was born in South Africa. We also managed to visit 3 orphanages during this time. So, God is good and we are happy to be back.

This morning when we received the news of our grand daughter’s birth, we were at a baby orphanage. Tiny babies crying their hearts out, nobody to pick them up, cuddle them. We touched all of them, but what they needed most is a mother. Please pray with us about the possibility to begin a “baba” (Bulgarian word for grandmother) project in this home. Grandmothers from nearby villages will be employed by the Foundation to take care of the babies. Just a few hours each day, take them out for a walk, help with the feeding, bond with the children.

” Ja, Ik houd van Hem! “

29 januari, 2009
