We came back to Bulgaria 3 weeks ago. All 3 of us had flu (one at a time), 3 times problems with our 14 year old vehicle and this morning our 3rd grand daughter was born in South Africa. We also managed to visit 3 orphanages during this time. So, God is good and we are happy to be back.
This morning when we received the news of our grand daughter’s birth, we were at a baby orphanage. Tiny babies crying their hearts out, nobody to pick them up, cuddle them. We touched all of them, but what they needed most is a mother. Please pray with us about the possibility to begin a “baba” (Bulgarian word for grandmother) project in this home. Grandmothers from nearby villages will be employed by the Foundation to take care of the babies. Just a few hours each day, take them out for a walk, help with the feeding, bond with the children.

A few weeks ago we stood on the balcony of an orphanage for toddlers (3-6 years). That was our second visit to this home during the past month.
We looked down on the children where they were playing outside. Some of them sat alone, rocking. I asked the Lord what about these children. The scripture in Math. 10:30 came to my mind: And even the very hairs of their heads are all numbered… We climbed down the stairs to them, felt their arms around our necks and prayed that the Lord will touch these vulnerable children in a special way.
We spoke to the nurse. She was clearly so frustrated. They are only two on duty to take care of the children. The government cut down on funding, reduced staff, they work 12 hour shifts, have to clean, take care of the children, etc. During the night only one worker is on duty. Apart from taking care of the children, she has to do the washing during the night. The next night she has to do the ironing. Only way to keep the kids save at night is to lock their door. Later we asked what about the children? The answer Oh, half of them wet their beds, every morning we have badly soiled beds, they really just cause more work…

God is good and faithful. We had a wonderful summer camp with the children from Razdawitza.
I think the echoes of all the Jesus songs sung by the kids can still be heard in the mountains. Team was great, from England, Ireland, Scotland, Spain, Holland, Germany, Bulgaria and South Africa. For most of them it was a first time experience. Big bonus was all the men on the team. For the children who do not have a father figure in their lives, it was good.
We did Bible stories with the younger ones, Bible studies with the older ones, arts and crafts, sport, games and many nice things. It was good to see how mature some of the older boys became. Strong potential leaders in their community. They attend churches in their community during weekends. We thank the Lord for that.

Vandag al twee weke terug in Bulgarye.
